Hello Everyone,
How was your week? Thank God It's Friday! I thought to write about what I recently studied alongside my Bible Study group members. We looked into what it means to be sealed by the Holy Spirit in line with Ephesians 1:13.
Ephesians 1:13 says:
"In whom ye also trusted, after that, ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise." (KJV version).
Let's look at two other Bible versions to aid our understanding.
The NCV version of Ephesians 1:13 says:
"So it is with you. When you heard the true teaching—the Good News about your salvation—you believed in Christ. And in Christ, God put his special mark of ownership on you by giving you the Holy Spirit that he had promised."
The TLB version of Ephesians 1:13 says:
"And because of what Christ did, all you others too, who heard the Good News about how to be saved, and trusted Christ, were marked as belonging to Christ by the Holy Spirit, who long ago had been promised to all of us Christians."
How wonderful it is for God's children to know that they have been sealed by the Holy Spirit? To seal means to put your approval on something, a stamp on something, a signature on something, and a covering on something.
Therefore, the word seal in the above scripture can be deemed as a metaphor to teach us that for those that put their trust in Christ, God has put a special mark of ownership on them which is the Holy Spirit.
The fact that you have the seal of the Holy Spirit on you, it is proof that you belong to God and that your life should be guided by God through Jesus Christ. Therefore, do not allow any evil thoughts or anyone to make you question who you are in Christ.
Are you living in this consciousness that you have been sealed by the Holy Spirit? Do you seek the Holy Spirit's approval for the things that you do?
As you go into this weekend, I would like you to thank God for sealing you with the Holy Spirit.
Also, I love hearing from you in the comment section. Please take a minute to say ‘hello’ by leaving a comment.
Have a lovely weekend!
Yours in Christ,
Mysses Lafunky
