How Do You Use Your Words?

How is your week going? Hope you are having a lovely week. Today's article is about "How You Use Your Words."  How do you use your words?

Let me share a personal experience with you. I had an interesting experience in the Year 2009. After my undergraduate degree, everyone kept asking me about my plans prior to my graduation ceremony. I spoke positively that I was going to gain admission to a particular university to embark on a course (Masters in Social Work). After all, the Bible says in Romans 4:17b that we should "call those things which do not exist as though they did."

What people did not realise at the time was that it was not a straightforward process to gain admission for Masters in Social Work. We were only allowed to apply to 5 universities. The course was Government-funded, thus, the admission process was rigorous.

You won't believe what happened to me. Out of the 5 universities that I had applied to, 4 rejected my application; I was not given the opportunity to be interviewed. I was told that I had insufficient social work experience, hence my application was rejected. What made the matter interesting was the fact that people kept asking me over and over about my plans after graduation. I continued to inform them that I will be attending a particular university to study Masters in Social Work.

I guess I spoke positively about the admission as it was God that had asked me to apply for the course. If it was left to me, I would have applied for a Masters in Education based on what I had studied for my undergraduate.

After 4 rejections from 4 universities, you would think I would have lost hope, right? No, I didn't. The Holy Spirit empowered me to keep my positive confession going. I kept speaking positively and I held unto God's promises for me and I trusted God to come through. Although I had no idea how God was going to come through for me but I knew God will honour His promises as His Word says in Hebrews 10: 23b that "For He who promised is faithful." God is reliable with His promises, He can be trusted as long you are certain that God made the promise.

Lo and behold, the 5th university (the university that I had informed everyone that I will be attending) contacted me. I was interviewed and offered a place to study my chosen course. Isn't it amazing how God came through for me, despite 4 rejections?

Some people may have thought that because God had said I will complete Masters in Social Work course, it could be argued that the process will be straightforward. Is this how God works? Let me know your thought on this.

I would like to encourage you to never give up on speaking the Word of God concerning His promises for you. As long God has promised you something, be rest assured that He will do it regardless of the obstacles.

Are you waiting on God for something? Stay in the receiving room of God. Keep trusting and keep speaking in faith and never give up.
