Making A Conscious Effort to Spend Time with God

Hello Everyone,

How are you doing? I hope your new week is going well. Last week, I (with the inspiration of the Holy Spirit)  wrote about "The Use of the Lord's Prayer." If you haven't read the article, please click this link to read it; you will gain something new. This week's article is about making a conscious effort to spend time with God.

As a Christian, are you intentional in creating time to connect with God? God is always wanting to spend time with His children. I love the story of Zaccheaus in the Bible (Luke 19:1-6). Let me share a Bible Story video about Zaccheaus with you. This video is from Saddleback Kids Bible Stories' Youtube channel. Click here to watch the video.

I love how Zaccheaus went above and beyond to ensure that he met with Jesus. Jesus had to reach out to him, Jesus couldn't resist someone that was going above and beyond to connect with Him. The story of Zaccheaus reminds me of a Scripture in James 4:8a which says: "Come near to God and He will come near to you."  How are you connecting with God? Our Christianity centres on connecting with Jesus and learning how to be like Him. We gain strength from connecting with Jesus, we gain wisdom, we mature in wisdom as well when we spend time with Jesus, we learn how to cope with various situations when we connect with Jesus and we experience peace when we spend time with Jesus.

There are numerous ways that you can connect with God. Let me share some with you:

Spend time alone in your room,
You could write a poem,
You could use a prayer journal to talk to God,
You could write a letter to God,
You could draw and paint,
You could create time to read your Bible,
You could fellowship with other Christians or your immediate family members to study the Bible and to pray together,
You could play an instrument or sing worship songs unto God,
You could pray in your heart as God also hears silent prayers.  The Book of Psalm 139:4 says "You know what I am going to say even before I say it, Lord."

I'd love to know how you connect with God, please feel free to share it with me and my audience. Let me share how I connect with God. I usually connect with God by creating time to read my Bible, I create time to talk to God in the house (this could be anywhere in the house) and also through prayer walk.

Also, I love worshipping God through songs as well. I also talk to God in my thoughts. I'm sure there are others ways that I connect with God that I can't think of right now. I also talk to God anytime without it being planned or scheduled as I believe I have access to God 24/7.
