Be an Influencer for Christ

Happy New Week! Hope you had a lovely weekend and hope it was a relaxing one. 

Today's topic is about being an influencer. When you hear the word 'influencer', what comes to your mind?  Brand influencers? Social media influencers? A famous person? Let me attempt to define what it means to be an influencer. Influencers are usually ordinary people like you and me, who have the power to persuade others to undertake a task based on their credibility or popularity or expertise, or their knowledge/wisdom. 

How Christians are to handle offences

How are you doing? How is your week going? What's the weather like where you are? It's very windy here today. 

This week's post is about how we (Christians) are to manage offences. It is important that we do not allow secular perspectives to set the guidelines for our daily consecrated life. We are not to live our Christian lives using humanistic common sense. The Bible says in Mark 7:13 that 'because of your traditions, you have destroyed the authority of God's word and you do many other things like that." Have you destroyed the authority of God's word in your life with the way you manage offences?

Jesus Christ said in His word in Luke 17:1 that 'offences will certainly come but woe (judgment is coming) to the one they come through.' Since offences will certainly come, it is important that we manage them using the Word of God because if we do not manage offences in line with God's word, they could lead to the following:

• Uncontrolled anger (The Bible says that the anger of humans does not produce the righteousness of God- James 1:20). Uncontrolled anger could lead to bitterness, brawling, and slander. God's Word says we should put away bitterness, anger, and slander - Ephesians 4:31.

• Disharmony (The Bible says that blessed are the peacemakers for they will be called the children of God - Matthew 5:9. The Word of God also says in Psalm133:1 that how good and pleasant it is when believers dwell in unity, which means when we do not dwell in unity, we will not be pleasing God).

• Recording/repeating records of wrongs (The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 13:5 that love does not keep a record of wrongs. God also says that in the multitude of words, sin is not lacking - Proverbs 10:19).

  How are you to handle offences as a Christian?

Step one: Recognise and understand the spirit behind the offence. The devil's plan is to sow discord. Therefore, do not waste your time fighting the wrong person. The main enemy is the devil, he wants you to be angry, he wants to cause you pain, he wants to steal your joy and peace. When you recognise this, you won't waste your energy grumbling or fighting anyone.

Step two: Attack the issue by praying always. Fire intercessory prayers and bind the spirit behind the issue. Pray constantly by using the authority that you have in Christ to bind the plans of the enemy (Matthew 18:18).

God Works Through His Children

How was your weekend? Hope you had a lovely weekend. 

Recently, my husband had asked my daughter not to sit at the table so that she will not injure herself unexpectedly. Also, this particular table is not for sitting on. As my daughter was about to respond to my husband’s instruction, the water on the table spilt everywhere. Neither my husband nor I or my daughter realised that there was a cup of water on the table. When my husband had the prompting to suddenly ask her to come off the table; this was God at work in my husband. 

Are you familiar with the story of the widow at Zarephath in 1 Kings 17:1-24? Let me explain the story quickly to you.

So, there was a great drought in the land of Israel where Elijah had declared that there was going to be no rain due to the sins that were committed by King Ahab and his wife (Jezebel). If you want to know more about the sins, please check out 1 Kings 16:29-34.

The absence of rain-affected their food production, which led to a lack of food and water in the country. Since Prophet Elijah was also living in the country, he was also without food and drink. However, God made provision for him by sending ravens to bring him food. 

God directed Elijah by describing the place where he needed to be to meet the ravens for food and drink. However, after this, the land continued to dry up and there was still no food in the land. 

The Spirit of God is the Spirit of Wisdom and Understanding

How are you today? Thank you for reading our Godly-inspired posts when we relaunched last week. Within the last seven days, we have had at least 1000 views of our articles. I am pleased to know that God is ministering to you through His platform. So back to this week's post...

Do you know that God's Spirit is the Spirit of wisdom and understanding? Do you know that it is God's desire for you to be wise? God wants you to be full of wisdom as His wisdom will shape your views about who you are, your views about others and the world. 

Discovering God's wisdom is life-changing. That's right, it is life-changing; the wisdom of God has a strong effect in changing everything about you.  

In the bible, James 3:13-18 says that if you are wise and understand God's ways, prove it by living an honourable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from God. So, God's wisdom helps us to live an honourable life. James further mentioned that God's wisdom helps you to live a pure life that is not jealous, bitter, selfish, boastful, and full of lies. Don't you want this wisdom? 

              God's Wisdom 

1) You have to ask God for His wisdom which He gives generously to those who ask Him.

2) You have to keep seeking after God by consistently spending time with Him. "You become wiser when you consistently fellowship with God and correctly apply His Word into your life" (Mysses Lafunky). 

What does it mean when the Word of God says 'Pray that Your Flight will not be in Winter or on the Sabbath'?

The title of this post is a question that some Christians need clarity with. In Matthew 24:20, the Bible says that we should "Pray that our flight will not take place in winter or on the sabbath."

The context of Matthew 24:20 was in relation to the Parable that Jesus taught the disciples on the Mount of Olives. The Parable is called: "The signs of the End times.

- Jesus Christ sat on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple when Peter, John, James and Andrew asked him some questions privately. They asked Jesus about the signs of the End times (Matthew 24:1-35, Mark 13:1-29 and Luke 21:1-33).

- Jesus Christ explained that there will be troubles in the world, earthquakes in various places, famines, tribulations, siblings will betray one another and a  father will betray his child, nations will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.

God is looking at Your Heart. Is it Pure? Is it bitter? Is it Righteous? Is it Corrupt?

Do you know that God can see the state of your heart? He can see what nobody else can see. He knows your thoughts even before your actions. We sometimes think that we know people based on their actions. Permit me to say that sometimes the actions do not match what an individual is thinking in their mind. The Word of God says in 1 Samuel 16:7 that, God does not look at the outward appearances like the way we humans do but He looks at the heart (Paraphrased).  God's Word also says that "A person may think their own ways are right, but the Lord weighs the heart (Proverbs 21:2 NIV version). 

Our heart is so important that God said that we need to guard our hearts diligently because our thoughts control our lives (Proverbs 4:23). God also said that we need to take captive of every thought to make it obedient to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:4-5). 

As Christians, God uses our everyday living to show us the state of our hearts. Sometimes, God uses our relationship with people, families, colleagues, church members, our children, Christian music, Word of God, a sermon, an article, a painting, and many more to show us the state of our hearts.

Do you know the state of your heart?

Please, say this prayer after me:

"Search me, God, and know my heart;
    test me and know my anxious thoughts.
24 See if there is any offensive way in me,
    and lead me in the way everlasting."

                                                            (Psalm 139:23-24 NIV version).

The above Psalm 139:23-24 can be used to pray to God regularly.

The charge for this week is for you to ask God to search your heart. Are you going to subject your thoughts to the obedience of God's Word?

Your Prayers are stored in Heaven

How are you doing today? Mysses Lafunky's Blogspot is back!  My sincere apologies for the long silence. Nevertheless, you have not been ignored as we have responded to all the inquiries received via our email. 

So back to this week's post.

Did you know that when you pray to God as a Christian, your prayers are being stored up in heaven? This is when you pray prayers that are not empty words (Matthew 6:7), prayers that are in line with the Word of God, prayers that are not quoted out of the context of the Word of God, and prayers that are spirit-filled. With regards to your prayers being stored up in heaven, the Bible says in Revelation 5:8:  "After the Lamb took the scroll, the four living beings and the 24 elders bowed down before the Lamb. Each one of them had a harp. Also, they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of God’s holy people."How amazing is it for you to know that your prayers are being stored in heaven? So, every time that you pray to God, you are not wasting your time, your prayers are going to heaven like incense which God is storing up in heaven.

The Psalmist says in Psalm 141:2 that: "May my prayer be set before you like incense; may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice."

The charge for this week is to never give up praying as your prayers are being heard by God and stored up in heaven.
